SHIRLEY J

You will notice there is a new button on the right entitled "Shirley J". Let me tell you the story of Shirley J. Shirley J Products was founded in the late 1970s by a gentleman named Don Smith. Don was a food scientist and developer who worked for Safeway in California. In the late 1970s, he took early retirement to begin a business selling some of his creations. He moved to Salt Lake City and began to sell his products, principally to institutional customers, under the banner "Shirley J Products".  Shirley J, is the name of his wife.

Don began to call on institutional accounts such as churches, schools, and restaurants. Don's first big institutional customers was due in large part to Mike Olsen. This was 15 years ago or so. About 4 years ago Don passed away. His wife was too old to do anything with the business so she sold it to one of their employees, Joyce Wadsworth, who ran it for the past 5 years.

This past November, Mike was given the suggestion to call Joyce to explore the possibility of purchasing the business. On January 30, 2009, Kelly Olsen, and Shon Whitney officially purchased the business. Shirley J's mission is to empower the families of America to rediscover the lost art of home cooking, while stretching their food dollar with institutional quality products that taste great, are easy to use and redefine the traditional notion of food storage. Shirley J has many products including a cream soup, sauce and gavey base. You can make a variety of foods with this one product such as potato casserole, milk gravey, pasta sauce, cream soups, etc.

My brother is Shon Whitney, one of the new owners of Shirley J. I will be working as a Shirley J Home Chef for the Rexburg area. My goal is to let other "moms" know about this great product. It is not only cost effective, but delicious.

I will hosting a tasting party Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at my home to let my friends come and see for themselves about these great new products available. All is invited. Hope to see you there!!!!
